There are four shifts in the Patrol Division, each working three or four twelve hour shifts per two week pay period. Each shift is individually commanded by a Lieutenant and seconded by a Shift Sergeant and either has two or three Patrol Officers.

These Patrol Officers are the most familiar to the general public because they are responsible for the 24 hour-a-day task of responding to calls for service, preventing criminal activity, conducting preliminary criminal investigations, apprehending criminals, traffic enforcement, accident investigation and community interaction. The Patrol Division also has a K9 Officer who work rotating schedules to cover call out and all high-volume periods.
